Our Wedding

Merrill and Tom first met on a Friday evening in September of 2019 at LFK, a cozy local bar in Portland, Maine. Merrill had just returned from a week of conducting wetland delineations in Downeast Maine, while Tom was nearly recovered from lacrosse-injured shoulder surgery. Over shared plates of chicken nachos, cold beers, and conversations about their college sports and skiing, they discovered an instant connection. When Tom asked to join Merrill and her friends at their next stop, Munjoy Hill Tavern, the spark between them only grew stronger. A walk through Portland that night sealed the deal — they were both smitten. Tom was captivated by Merrill’s charisma, sense of humor, self-assurance, and adventurous spirit while Merrill was drawn to Tom’s confidence, infectious laugh, inquisitiveness, and soft blue eyes. Their relationship blossomed through weekends exploring Maine’s ski mountains, sampling new restaurants around Portland, venturing to coastal towns, and camping in the back of Tom’s Volkswagen — even during snowstorms in rural USPS parking lots. Six years later, after a cross-country move to Colorado and countless adventures together, Tom proposed atop the Sapporo TV Tower during a trip to Japan. Merrill couldn’t wait to say “yes!” They now look forward to a lifetime of shared adventures, laughter, and love. Most of all, they are deeply grateful for the support and joy they’ve found in their family and friends — and they can’t wait to celebrate with all of you.

The Harborside Hotel, where the venue is, doesn't offer a formal "room block" for the wedding, just a small discount code. Please feel free to stay anywhere in Downtown Bar Harbor, as there are many Hotels, Inns, Bed &amp; Breakfasts, and rentals that are walkable to the venue. A great way to look for additional stay locations is <a href="https://www.staybarharbor.com/bar-harbor.htm" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Stay Bar Harbor</a>!

This hotel is connected to the wedding venue and will be the most convenient option. Please note that they require a 3-night minimum. A small discount code is included in the attached link for booking. Searching without the code will also show additional hotel room options.

This airport is a 3-hour drive from the Bar Harbor Club but is 10 minutes from downtown Portland if you want to check it out!

Boston Logan Airport is a 4.5 to 5- hour drive to the Bar Harbor Club, depending on traffic. Please leave yourself time for travel if you fly into or out of this airport!

There is an airport in Bar Harbor that is a 20-minute drive from the venue! However, it is small and is serviced by CapeAir. This airport also includes a Seaplane ramp.

Bar Harbor is actually named after this Island! When the tide goes out, you can cross a sandbar from the Bar Harbor Club to Bar Island! There is a mile hike on the island with historic building remnants. Please note that you can get STRANDED on this island if you're not back to the main land before the tide comes back in! Check tide schedules!

Acadia National Park is where the mountains meet the sea! There are plenty of hikes, scenic drives, and bike rides in this area. Cadillac Mountain is the first place in the US that the sunrise touches (if you start a hike at 3 am you can make it to the top for sunrise). The Beehive is a quicker hiking option as well, pictured above.
